1922 Opt. 'CHINA' 2nd issue, 2c green with 'SPECIMEN' in black italic. In October 1927, a new printing of the 2c
green and 4c carmine was ordered by the General Post Office in Hong Kong. It is unclear why the order concerned
only these 2 values and why there are existing SPECIMEN copies. The general policy was to order SPECIMENS only
for higher value denominations. Perrin had only recorded one copy of the 4 cents with SPECIMEN overprint when he
published his book in 1973. It is now acknowledged that there are probably 2 existing copies of the 4 cents. The present
copy of the 2 cents with SPECIMEN overprint may be unique and is in prestine never hinged condition. An extremely
rare and magnifcent showpiece. Yang BP18S. Photo
